| Shaheen grew up dancing with her parents, who
are themselves avid dancers.
She spent spent many years performing on stage and exploring various dance forms. She discovered
belly dance in 1989, and has been devoted to studying and teacing this wonderful art
form. She is the artistic director of the Narantuya and
Jewel of Opar belly dance ensembles.
Her dance style, which is based on Egyptian cabaret, includes elements of various other dance forms, such as ballroom, latin, jazz, and hiphop. She teaches in her Willow Glen studio, and can be seen performing in many bay area dance venues. |
